Steyr SSG Carbon Rifle with Chipped Carbon SMC Stock
First revealed at SHOT Show 2014, the Steyr SSG Carbon is finally making its way to America. It took Steyr 16 months to fill a large quantity of LEO orders, but now the innovative Steyr SSG Carbon should be available throughout the USA for $3695.00 MSRP. That sounds pretty expensive, but this is a very sophisticated rifle.
Here’s a very cool video — worth watching full-screen in HD.
What is the most accurate, bolt action,.308 WIN, commercial rifle in the world? Calibers such as.308 Winchester magnum will shoot farther than most amateurs and a lot of professionals can aim. You are talking about a gun that military snipers have sighted in at 1000 yards and taken headshots with. As for what's most accurate, that is. Steyr Mannlicher SSG 69 PII 308 Winchester 26' Barrel 5 Rounds Bolt Action Rifle 29.910. 3B SSG 69 PII. Steyr Mannlicher firearms are striking in appearance and are breathtakingly accurate. The SSG Carbon is based on Steyr’s SBS action (with a +20 MOA rail on top). This gun features the same crisp, adjustable single-stage trigger used in the vaunted SSG 08. The rifle has a hammer-forged, four-groove 1:10″-twist barrel (20″ or 22.4″) chambered for the .308 Winchester. The SSG Carbon rifle offers excellent ergos, with adjustable cheek piece, adjustable butt plate, and an integrated adjustable rear mono-pod. But the real selling point for this rifle is the stock — a carbon stock built like a Formula 1 car chassis.
Chipped Carbon Stock Construction
Unlike conventional carbon-fiber stocks made from woven carbon fabric, the SSG Carbon’s stock is made using the same “chipped-carbon” Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) construction used to create load-bearing structures in Formula 1 racecars and high-performance aircraft. The SSG Carbon’s chipped-carbon flakes combine thermally with the binding agent to form the SMC for a distinctive appearance to the stock. The carbon chips interlock with each other to create a “tension net” that is superior to steel, at a fraction of the weight of steel or even aluminum. Steyr claims that the SMC stock material absorbs recoil better than wood, metal, fiberglass or other synthetics.

Steyr SSG 69 Sniper Rifle
A classic rifle that still commands a high demand.
TRUSSVILLE, AL ---(AmmoLand.com)- The SSG 69 line of rifles, including the STEYR SSG 69 PI and the STEYR SSG 69 PII, mirrors many years of STEYR MANNLICHER's firearms manufacturing experience.
The SSG 69 (Scharfschützengewehr 69) is a bolt-action sniper rifle produced by Steyr Mannlicher and serves as the standard sniper rifle for the Austrian Army.
Adopted in 1969 (hence the designation), it was ahead of its time with the use of synthetics and cold-hammer forged barrels for accuracy. SSG-69 is the Austrian Army's standard issue sniper rifle, the PI is the civilian version of the same weapon. The SSG-69 is also used by several police agencies. The SSG is extremely accurate and several international competitions have been won using an SSG-69 with accuracy being sub .5 MOA.
There are several variants made with mostly cosmetic differences, the only anomaly being the SSG-PIV using a 409 mm barrel with a 1:250 mm (1:10 inches) twist designed to handle heavy subsonic ammunition.
Their precision and robustness set a trend internationally, for a new generation of modern precision rifles. Despite the fact that their development originated some time ago, the SSG 69 series of precision rifles remain internationally high in demand.
